In Landman Season 2, Episode 4, Kayla Wallace’s character Rebecca reveals a fear of flying.

During a turbulent flight, Rebecca panics. Charlie (Guy Burnet) gets her drunk, turning the rough landing into a moment of enjoyment. Rebecca later wakes up in Charlie’s bed, embarrassed but intrigued by his lifestyle. In an interview with TV InsiderWallace shared insights into playing Rebecca’s vulnerabilities and unexpected romantic developments.

Wallace stated, “She’s a person who likes to be in control of everything, and then she loses control and ends up in this strange man’s bed — not a situation that she feels her best.” She explained that Rebecca reacted strongly because she woke up in an unfamiliar environment after a night of lowered inhibitions. The episode shows a contrast to Rebecca’s usual composure, with messy hair, unwashed makeup, and rushing to work.

Wallace explained that playing Rebecca’s vulnerability was “so much fun,” noting the show constructed a private jet interior on set. “They were wiggling it around, so it felt like you’re on a roller coaster,” she said, describing the experience as “a really awesome day on set.” She also described the shift in performance from nervousness to comedic relief as a welcomed change.

When asked about Rebecca’s resistance to Charlie’s romantic interest, Wallace pointed to Rebecca’s need for control and discomfort with the unpredictability of the situation. “She doesn’t know who this guy is… she let her guard down and ended up in a random bed,” she said.

Rebecca grows curious about Charlie after noticing his familiar bathroom products, a sharp contrast to the Softsoap she uses in Texas. “It’s like, ‘Who is this guy? He’s such a mystery,’” Wallace said. She confirmed she didn’t use a body double, noting the crew was “really wonderful and protective.”

The show will return for a third season.
