According to the math of world time, 2026 has already arrived in some countries. Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean has become the first country in the world to welcome 2026. The New Year celebrations officially started at 12 midnight in Line Island here.

Even in New Zealand, it is 12 midnight and the New Year was welcomed by fireworks on the ‘Sky Tower’ in Auckland.

A global journey of celebration

The New Year’s journey will now move from the Pacific Islands through parts of Oceania to East Asia. The enthusiasm will then reach South Asia (India), Southeast Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa and finally the Americas. The world’s last New Year will be celebrated at Howland and Baker Island in the US. India is now waiting for 12 midnight, and cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Goa have started celebrating the New Year amid tight security.
