Statement by Japanese leader Toshimitsu Motegi: Quad countries will increase practical cooperation to keep Indo-Pacific free
Toshimitsu Motegi Statement QUAD Summit 2026: The 11th important meeting of foreign ministers of Quad countries was held on Tuesday in New Delhi, the capital of India. Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi talked about increasing practical cooperation for a free and open Indo-Pacific. He said that this meeting gives a very clear and strong message to the entire world. Big leaders of India, America, Japan and Australia have participated in this meeting.
Japanese Minister Motegi said that he has a very special attachment to this special meeting. He thanked Foreign Minister S. for organizing the excellent event. Thanked Jaishankar and recalled the first meeting in September 2019. Huge changes are taking place in the international system which everyone has to face together. Quad countries are working together in areas like maritime security, supply chain and new technologies.
New changes in FOIP
Motegi said that it has only been 10 years since the concept of FOIP came into existence and the international system continues to change. To respond to these changes, Prime Minister Takaichi has called for a complete update of FOIP. The countries of Indo-Pacific will take major decisions about their future by increasing their capacity and strength.
India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said that this is the third major meeting in less than 18 months. In this, very important discussions and important decisions will be taken on many joint activities. The main focus of the discussion will always be Indo-Pacific which is the core region of the Quad countries.
S. Jaishankar also mentioned the strength of supply chains and connectivity constraints at the global level. He also talked about centralization of production and resources and tackling the lack of infrastructure. All these things create new opportunities for enhancing the partnership and development of the Quad countries.

Many important initiatives have progressed rapidly which are essential for the development of this sector. This entire Indo-Pacific region is very important for global development and peaceful stability.
