Lauki Kofta Recipe
Ingridents For Koftas
- 1 medium lauki (bottle gourd), peeled and grated
- 1 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander
- Oil, for frying
Ingredients For Gravy:
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons tomato puree
- 1 cup water
- Fresh coriander, for garnish
Instructions for Cooking
Preparing the Koftas:
- Grate the lauki and squeeze excess water from it.
- Mix the grated lauki with besan, breadcrumbs, spices, herbs, lemon juice, and salt and make a slurry mixture.
- Shape small cylindrical koftas out of this mixture.
- Heat the oil in a deep frying pan and fry the koftas until golden brown.
Preparing the Gravy:
- In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Now, add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
- Add spices, salt, and tomato puree to it.
- Add water as per your desired consistency and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Once the gravy thickens and the oil separates, add the fried koftas and let them simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
