Shortly after LE SSERAFIM’s teasers were circulated on social media, the controversy broke out, causing a stir on Korean online forums like TheQoo and on platforms like X (formerly Twitter). The images of LE SSERAFIM, which featured members dressed in black and white and were taken with vintage filters that created an eerie atmosphere, instantly brought to mind Red Velvet’s distinctive Chill Kill teasers, which were previously popularized due to their eerie and distinctive style.

Chill Kill is one of Red Velvet’s most acclaimed concepts to date.

Fans and internet users swiftly voiced their disgust when the purported parallels gained hold, with comments on TheQoo casting doubt on LE SSERAFIM’s uniqueness and level of execution. A well-liked post pointing out the parallels garnered hundreds of comments and more than 50,000 views.

Netizens stated, “The quality is just… meh,” and, “Why do these issues keep coming up? If it were just a couple of times, we could ignore it, but by now, it’s clear this is intentional. ” Many related it with the Red Velvet’s artistic creation

The relationship between the two groups’ photo shoots and photographer Cho Gi Seok, who allegedly collaborated with LE SSERAFIM on their UNFORGIVEN teasers and had previously worked with Red Velvet, is a noteworthy aspect of the discussion. Fans of LE SSERAFIM have attributed the visual similarities to this shared artistic influence, but this defense hasn’t completely dispelled the charges.
