Leave the fuss of petrol and diesel, bring a car running on Hyundai's Hy-CNG Duo system. Seeing the increasing demand for CNG vehicles in India, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has emphasized on expanding its CNG options. The company says that sales of CNG vehicles are continuously increasing in both urban and rural markets.

Hyundai's CNG vehicles

Currently, Hyundai offers CNG variants in three models – Grand i10 NIOS, Aura, and Exter. The share of CNG models in Hyundai's domestic sales was 9.1% in fiscal year 2022, increasing to 11.4% in fiscal year 2024. Between April and October 2024, this figure reached 12.8%. Hyundai's total domestic sales during this period stood at 3.54 lakh units.

Benefits of CNG station network

Hyundai COO Tarun Garg said that the number of CNG stations in the country has crossed 7,000, which is targeted to be taken to 17,500 by 2030. He said, “This network will further boost the demand for CNG vehicles, providing customers with a cheaper and environment-friendly fuel option.”

Hyundai's Hy-CNG Duo system

Keeping in mind the needs of the customers, Hyundai has launched Hy-CNG Duo system. It has been provided with dual cylinder technology, which along with giving better mileage, also removes the problem of boot space. This feature has been included in Grand i10 NIOS and Exter.

Hyundai says that with Hy-CNG Duo, customers will get the best experience in mileage, boot space and safety. The share of CNG vehicles reached 14.9% in October 2024.

October 2024 sales

Hyundai sold 8,261 CNG vehicles in October. The share of CNG in Grand i10 NIOS was 17.4%, in Exter 39.7% and in Aura 90.6%. The share of CNG vehicles in the urban market increased from 8.8% to 10.7%, while in the rural market it increased from 7.1% to 12%.
