Lebanon showed Iran’s ambassador the way out, Israel expressed happiness on being declared ‘persona non grata’

New Delhi: There has been a deep rift in diplomatic relations between Lebanon and Iran. The Lebanese government has declared Iran’s ambassador-designate Mohammad Reza Shibani as ‘persona non grata’. This means that now they will not be able to enter Lebanon.

Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Youssef Raghi has ordered him to leave the country by March 29. The minister himself gave information about this decision by posting it on X. This decision was formally handed over to the Iranian Charge d’Affairs by calling the Foreign Ministry.

Israel welcomed the decision

Israel has openly welcomed this step of Lebanon. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that this decision is completely justified because Iran is continuously interfering in Lebanon’s internal affairs. Saar advised Lebanon to take concrete and practical action against Hezbollah, as Hezbollah members are still included in the Lebanese government.

New allegation on Iran

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that Iran fired ballistic missiles towards Lebanon, one of which fell in Beirut. “Iran does not care about harming anyone,” the IDF said. After this incident, tension increased further in the southern areas of Beirut. The Israeli army has ordered the people of seven areas of Beirut to evacuate immediately.

Action continues on Hezbollah targets

The Israeli army said that attacks on Hezbollah targets will continue. Debris from a missile interception by a foreign navy ship fell on several towns north of Beirut, lightly injuring some people, according to Lebanon’s official news agency.

Israel also claimed that Mohammad Ali Kourani, associated with Iran’s Quds Force, was killed in the action taken in Hazmieh area of Beirut. Quds Force is considered an important branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Relations between the two countries are tense

Iran has long maintained its influence in Lebanon through Hezbollah. This step of the Lebanese government clearly shows the increasing tension between the two countries. There has been no official reaction from Iran on this incident yet.
