Assembly elections are to be held in Delhi soon and just before that, Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has given permission to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute AAP chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case. On December 5, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had sought approval for prosecution against Arvind Kejriwal.

After LG's approval, Aam Aadmi Party has now raised questions on it. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that it is clear that the news is false and misleading. If LG sir has given some approval then it must have been given after some careful consideration. Harsh Malhotra further says- 'BJP has always been raising the issue that AAP people give protection to Bangladeshis and Rohingyas. As the investigation progresses, be it Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia or other associates, whoever it is, everyone will be punished.

Recently, Delhi High Court had issued notice on Kejriwal's petition, in which the trial court's decision to take cognizance of the Enforcement Directorate's charge sheet against him in the alleged excise policy scam was challenged. At present, the order from the Lieutenant Governor giving permission to ED to prosecute the case has come after months of investigation into the excise policy of the Delhi government, which has been at the center of controversy and allegations of corruption.
