Life affected due to rain across the country, waterlogging in Delhi, floods in Surat and landslides in Kerala.
New Delhi: The torrential monsoon rains in many parts of the country on Wednesday and Thursday have badly affected life. Due to continuous rains, situations like floods, landslides, waterlogging and traffic disruption have emerged in many states. Seeing the situation after the rains across the country, rescue and relief operations have been intensified in many areas, while the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to extremely heavy rains in many areas in the coming days.
Amidst the worsening weather, Union Home Minister Amit Shah took stock of the situation by talking to the Chief Ministers of Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir over phone. Along with this, he assured that all possible assistance will be provided to the affected states by the Central Government.
Heaviest rain recorded in Delhi
The heaviest rainfall of this season was recorded in the national capital Delhi, due to which waterlogging and long traffic jams are being seen in many areas. Let us tell you, heavy rainfall was recorded in many areas including Mayur Vihar, Pusa, Lodhi Road and Safdarjung. Due to this, the Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts for the capital and warned of storm, lightning and heavy rain.
Meanwhile, three people died when a newly constructed four-storey building collapsed in Rohini. Initial investigation has revealed that drilling or cutting done in structural parts during the ongoing construction work inside the building could be the reason for the accident. Although initially the reason for this incident was said to be heavy rain.
Vehicles stuck in traffic jam for hours in Gurugram
Apart from Delhi, heavy rains in Gurugram also resulted in waterlogging on many major roads, due to which vehicles remained stuck in traffic jams for hours. Along with this, there has also been news of traffic being affected on many routes including the service lane of Delhi-Jaipur Highway.
How is the situation in Maharashtra?
After heavy rains in Maharashtra, relief and rescue operation is going on in the area due to huge pile of garbage slipping in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Let us tell you that 11 people are suspected to be trapped in this incident. Along with this, suburban local train services were affected due to heavy rain and storm. Operation of many long distance trains was also disrupted due to landslides in Bhor Ghat area and waterlogging on railway routes leading to Gujarat.

So far, nine people have died due to continuous rain and flood like situation in Surat, Gujarat. Thousands of people from low-lying areas have been evacuated to safe places, while relief materials are being delivered to people trapped in submerged buildings.
How is the condition of other states?
The search is on for five people missing after a mudslide at the tunnel project site in Wayanad, Kerala. Due to sudden flood in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, emergency has been created in many areas. South-West Monsoon is also active in Rajasthan and the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in many districts for the next two to three days. The administration has appealed to the people to be cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
