Sitapur. A big and tough decision has come from the court on December 23, 2025 in a much-discussed case. Additional Sessions Judge, Court No. 3, Avnish Kumar I has sentenced Vikas Rawat, Chiranju and Preeti to life imprisonment after holding them guilty of murder, kidnapping and other serious crimes. This judgment relates to session trial numbers 19/2015 and 937/2025.

According to the verdict, the accused have been found guilty under serious sections like Section 302 (murder) and Section 307 (attempt to murder), Section 364 (kidnapping), Section 384 (extortion) and Section 147/149/120B (rioting/criminal conspiracy). While pronouncing the sentence, accused Vikas Rawat, Chiranju and Preeti have been sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of ₹ 10,000 (ten thousand) each for the offense of section 302/149/120B. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional simple imprisonment of one year.

Apart from murder, punishment in many sections, the noose of law is tightly prepared
The court did not just limit itself to life imprisonment, but also gave harsh punishment in other sections. Vikas, Chiranju and Preeti have been given seven years’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000 (five thousand) for kidnapping (Section 364/120B). Vikas Rawat has been given seven years’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹ 5,000 (five thousand) for attempt to murder (section 307/149/120B). Chiranju and Preeti have been given two years’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹2,000 (two thousand) for rioting/unlawful assembly (Section 147).

Judge Avnish Kumar I signed this decision in the open court and announced that the convicted accused Vikas Rawat, Chiranju and Preeti should immediately prepare the sentence and send them to District Jail Sitapur to pay the punishment. This case started with the FIR (U.S. No. 151/2014) registered on the complaint of Alok Tiwari in Manpur police station, in which the kidnapping and murder of Tannu Mishra was involved. Government advocate Ashutosh Awasthi represented the prosecution side.
