Lohardaga: Lineman cum AJSU party leader Vasudev Oraon (50), a resident of Nagjua village of Cairo police station area, working on adhoc basis in the Railways, died tragically on Wednesday after being hit by a goods train. After the accident, a wave of mourning ran in the entire area, while the relatives are in deep shock. It is said that Vasudev Oraon was working near the railway track while on duty. During this time, he was hit by a speeding goods train, due to which he died on the spot. As soon as information about the incident was received, local people and police reached the spot and necessary action was taken. The post mortem process was completed after taking possession of the body. Here, after the death of Vasudev Oraon, there was anger among the villagers demanding compensation and job. On Thursday evening, villagers blocked the Lohardaga-Ranchi railway line near Nagjua railway gate under Kairo police station area. Due to this, railway operations were completely disrupted.

Due to the jam in the railway line, RL-6 MEMU passenger train from Lohardaga to Ranchi as well as Ranchi-Delhi Rajdhani Express and Ranchi-Sasaram Express were also affected. Rajdhani Express remained stalled at Piska station in Ranchi, while Sasaram Express and MEMU trains remained halted for hours near Nagjua station. Thousands of passengers faced a lot of trouble at Nagjua and Piska stations. Children, elderly people and women remained stranded in trains for a long time. On receiving the information, the RPF team reached the spot and tried to convince the villagers. However, the villagers remained adamant on their demand for job in Railways, proper compensation for the dependents of the deceased and action against the culprits. Counseling continued from the RPF and administration, but the situation could not become normal till late evening.
