Lionel Messi will reach Delhi today, traffic pattern will change…Police issued advisory

New Delhi:There is a lot of excitement in the capital regarding the visit of international football superstar Lionel Messi to Delhi. Due to this much-awaited programme, the traffic system is expected to be affected in many areas of Central Delhi on Monday. Especially the pressure of crowd and vehicles may increase on the roads around Arun Jaitley Stadium and its surroundings. Thousands of football fans can reach the stadium to get a glimpse of Messi.

Messi’s program will be from 1 to 4 pm

Messi will be present at Arun Jaitley Stadium between 1 pm to 4 pm as part of his India tour. Keeping this time period in mind, Delhi Traffic Police has prepared a special traffic management plan, so that there is no chaos and safety can be ensured.

According to the advisory issued by Delhi Traffic Police, traffic changes and partial restrictions will remain in force on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg (BSZ Marg) and Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (JLN Marg). There will be a ban on movement of heavy vehicles from Daryaganj to BSZ road and from Guru Nanak Chowk towards Asaf Ali Road.

Police have advised commuters to avoid both lanes of JLN road from Rajghat to Delhi Gate and Kamla Market roundabout, Asaf Ali Road from Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate and BSZ road from Delhi Gate to Ramcharan Agarwal Chowk (ITO) from 12 noon to 5 pm.

For the convenience of the spectators, the entry into the stadium has been divided into three directions. Entry will be available from gate number 1 to 8 through BSZ route from the southern direction. In the eastern direction, gate numbers 10 to 15 have been fixed from JLN route near Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal, while in the western direction, entry can be made from gate numbers 16 to 18 through BSZ route near the petrol pump.

Free parking facility has been provided for general visitors at Mata Sundari Road, Rajghat Power House Road and Velodrome Road. At the same time, parking around the stadium will be reserved only for marked vehicles. It will be mandatory to put parking labels on such vehicles, in which the vehicle number and contact details should be recorded. Entry into the marked parking will be available only from Vikram Nagar Cut, BSZ Marg (near Shahidi Park).

Strictness on illegal parking

Parking will be completely prohibited on Ring Road, BSZ Marg, JLN Marg and other major places between Rajghat and IP flyover. Vehicles violating the rules will be towed and legal action will be taken. Apart from this, for app based taxi services, pickup and drop points have been fixed at Maulana Azad Medical College and Rajghat Chowk near Gate No. 2 on BSZ route.

Strict security arrangements will be made inside and outside the stadium to deal with any untoward situation during Messi’s visit, so that the event can be conducted in a peaceful and safe manner.
