Liquor Policy Scam: Kejriwal cried on release, said, biggest political conspiracy in history
Delhi. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, emotional after being acquitted by a court in the liquor policy case, on Friday said the corruption case against him was the “biggest political conspiracy” in the history of independent India. The three-time former Chief Minister of Delhi cried while talking to journalists after the decision. He said, “The court has proved that Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and the Aam Aadmi Party are ‘staunchly honest’.”
Kejriwal alleged that the “conspiracy” in the excise case was hatched to destroy the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The AAP chief alleged that this was a completely fake case, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a role in fabricating.
A Delhi court on Friday acquitted former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in a corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam, refusing to take cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Special Judge Jitendra Singh said that there are many shortcomings in the charge sheet which are not in sync with the evidence. Along with this, apart from the two Aam Aadmi Party leaders, he also acquitted 21 other accused in the case. The CBI is probing alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now scrapped excise policy by the previous AAP government.
