In the final played at the Rangiri International Stadium in Dambulla, Sri Lanka A decided to bowl first. After this, Vaibhav, who came out to bat, made his intentions clear from the very first ball. He started the attack by hitting a four on the first ball of Mohammad Shiraz and then did not look back.

Vaibhav’s performance before the final was not anything special. He was in the news due to his continuous low scores and recent incident of pushing and shoving with an opposition player. But in the big match, he answered all the criticism with his bat.
Vaibhav created a storm in the second over of Shiraz. In this over, he hit three sixes and two fours and scored a total of 26 runs. After this, he completed his half-century in just 11 balls by hitting his fifth six over long on.

With this innings Vaibhav broke the 20 year old world record. Earlier, Sri Lankan Kaushalya Weeraratne had the fastest half-century in List-A cricket, who achieved this feat in 12 balls. Now this record has been registered in the name of an Indian batsman.
Vaibhav also made India’s record in his name. Earlier, the Indian record for the fastest List-A half-century was in the name of Sarfaraz Khan, who scored fifty in 15 balls against Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Vaibhav, who made his debut in List A cricket in December 2024, has played only 12 matches so far. But he has left his mark in a short time. While playing for Bihar in domestic cricket, he has also played a brilliant inning of 190 runs.
Vaibhav had not performed as per his name in the Tri Series till the finals. He could score only 117 runs in 4 matches. But in the final he left every stone unturned.
