New Delhi: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts recruitment exams yearly to hire staff for various roles in government, subordinate offices. The SSC exams are of different levels depending on the posts-

Here the recruitment exams conducted by SSC:

  • SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL)
  • SSC Constable, General Duty (GD)
  • SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL)
  • SSC Junior Engineer (JE)
  • SSC Central Police Organisation (CPO)
  • SSC Multitasking Staff (MTS)
  • SSC Stenographer C and D
  • SSC Junior Hindi Translator (JHT).

SSC Exam patterns

CGL

The SSC conducts the CGL exams in four tiers. The CGL tier one and two are held in online mode while tier 3 exam conducted in pen and paper mode, tier 4 is computer skill test.

The CGL tier one exam consists of 100 objective type questions and is divided into four sections. The tier 2 consists of paper one (English) of 200 marks and paper 2 (Quantitative Aptitude) of 200 marks. The tier 3 will have descriptive questions in Hindi or English of 100 marks. The tier four contains skill test or document verification process.

SSC GD paper pattern

SSC GD exam will consist of stage 1, stage 2 and 3. The stage one will consist of 100 objective type questions. The GD exam will be held on these topics- Elementary Mathematics, Hindi or English, Reasoning and General Intelligence.

The SSC GD stage 2 will have Physical standard test and stage 3- Medical check up, physical endurance test.

SSC CHSL paper pattern

SSC CHSL tier one will consist of 100 objective type questions. The CHSL tier 2 will have descriptive questions. The CHSL tier 3 consists of skill test and typing test.

SSC JE paper pattern

There are two papers in SSC JE. The paper one consists of computer based exam of 200 marks and paper 2 is of written test of 300 marks.

SSC CPO paper pattern

The stage one of SSC CPO exam consists of multiple choice questions. The stage 2 will have physical endurance test, stage 3- English comprehension test, stage 4- medical check up.

SSC MTS paper pattern

The paper one of SSC MTS exam will consist of 100 multiple choice questions. The paper 2 will have descriptive questions.

SSC Stenographer

The stage one of the SSC Stenographer paper will consist of 200 MCQ questions of one mark each. The stage two will have skills test.

SSC JHT

The paper one of SSC JHT will have 100 objective type questions and paper 2 will have descriptive papers.

Eligibility criteria

SSC CGL

The minimum age limit for the SSC CGL is 18 years, the upper age limit is 32 years.

Educational qualification:

The candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or institute. They need to possess 60 per cent marks in the 12th standard.

SSC GD

The age of the candidates should be between 18 and 23 years. The candidates should possess a matriculation certificate from a recognised board.

SSC CHSL

The candidates must possess 12th pass certificate from a recognised board to apply for the post. The age of the candidates should be between 18 and 27 years.

SSC JE

The upper age limit of the candidates should be 30 years. For post-wise educational qualifications, please check the official notification.

SSC CPO

The candidates need to possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institute. The upper age limit of the candidates should not cross 25 years.
