LK Advani’s condition ‘stable’, likely to be shifted from ICU within next 1-2 days
New Delhi: Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani, who was admitted to the national capital’s Indraprastha Apollo Hospital and is currently undergoing treatment, has shown signs of improvement in his medical condition, said a statement released by the hospital on Tuesday.
It added that the former deputy prime minister is expected to be shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within the next one or two days. Advani has been in the ICU since December 12 for medical management and investigations.
The hospital statement read: “Shri LK Advani ji, the former Deputy Prime Minister of India, has been under the care of Dr Vinit Suri in the ICU of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals since December 12. He has shown gradual improvement in his medical condition. Based on his progress, he is likely to be shifted out of the ICU within the next 1-2 days.”
He is under observation
On Saturday, Advani was admitted to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Hospital authorities said that the 97-year-old leader is “stable” and under observation.
“LK Advani, former deputy prime minister of India, has been admitted to the ICU of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals for medical management and investigations. He is under the care of Dr Vinit Suri and is currently stable,” the hospital had said in a media statement.
Earlier in August this year, the veteran BJP leader was admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital for a routine follow-up check-up. He was also admitted to the hospital on July 3 and discharged after a short stay. Earlier this year, he was admitted to AIIMS, where he was released after being observed overnight.
In March this year, Advani was bestowed the Bharat Ratna by President Droupadi Murmu.
