Business Advisory Committee Meeting: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla called a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha on Sunday before the start of the monsoon session of Parliament. It was presided over by Speaker Om Birla. Legislative business of the Parliament session and issues of public interest were discussed in the meeting with representatives of all political parties. Apart from this, time was allotted for discussion on the bills introduced by the government in the Lok Sabha.

In the meeting, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla urged all the members to ensure constructive debate, meaningful participation and smooth functioning of the House. Also emphasized on cooperation to make the session productive and dignified. According to the information, Speaker Om Birla will take a decision before the start of the monsoon session regarding the merger of rebel Trinamool Congress MPs with NCPI.

Kiren Rijiju warned the opposition

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju spoke to the media after the end of the meeting. He said that the meeting has just ended. This was a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of the Lok Sabha Speaker. In this, important bills have been introduced by the government. Some people from the opposition have also given suggestions. We have appealed that the opposition should not create ruckus when Parliament begins in the morning. If they create a ruckus, there will be loss.

Time fixed for discussion on bills in the meeting

Bill related to the number of judges in the Supreme Court

The discussion time for this bill has been fixed at four hours. In this proposed amendment, there is a provision to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court from 33 to 37, excluding the Chief Justice, so that the disposal of pending cases can be expedited.

Bill related to birth and death certificates

Four hours time has been set for debate on this bill in the monsoon session. The purpose of this bill is to bring more rigor in the process of birth and death certificates.

Bill regarding prevention of insult to national honor

A time of four hours has been fixed for discussion on this bill in the House. Through this bill, it is proposed to make more stringent punitive provisions against those who insult the national honor and national symbols of the country.

Foreign Contribution Bill

These major bills will be discussed for 4 hours in the Lok Sabha during the monsoon session. These bills were introduced in the House only on March 25, 2026. The government has said that the objective of these bills is to increase the transparency of grants and foreign donations received in the country.

income tax bill

This bill will be presented in the House as an ordinance. For this the discussion time has been fixed at 4 hours. The objective of this bill is to strengthen India’s Sovereign Debt Market, increase liquidity in the market and attract foreign investment.
