Lonavala Glass Skywalk : A glass bridge to be built in Lonavala; A new attraction for tourists

Now you will soon get to see this bridge in Lonavala, a popular tourist destination in Maharashtra. With this new glass bridge, the tourism of Lonavala will get a boost.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority has made a provision of Rs 200.50 crore for the construction of ‘Glass Skywalk’ in Lonavala in the budget of 2026-27. This was an ambitious project of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Although Ajit Dada has passed away, this project is moving towards actualization. Lonavala Glass Skywalk

The project was approved at the general meeting of PMRDA held in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar were present in this meeting. According to officials, additional funds of Rs 100 crore each from the Central Government and the District Planning Committee are likely to be available for this project.

This world-class skywalk is going to be built on a 15-acre site at a distance of about 15 km from Lonavala. The project will connect the popular Lions Point and Tiger Point, two major view points in the area. Lonavala Glass Skywalk

The main attraction of this sky walk is the 125 meter long and 6 meter wide glass walkway, from this glass bridge tourists can enjoy a panoramic view of the Sahyadri hills and valleys. Apart from this, a 90-metre long bridge will also be part of the project, which will make communication in the area easier.

The project is not only limited to the Skywalk, but the entire area is planned to be developed as a ‘Tourism Hub’. It will have adventure sports like zip-lining, bungee jumping, an amphitheater with a capacity of 1,000 spectators, 24 gazebos, and parking facilities for 1,500 cars and 2,000 bikes. Roads will also be widened keeping in mind the increasing number of tourists. It is hoped that the project will boost tourism and boost the local economy.
