Bahraich encounter is like a Netflix movie, Asaduddin Owaisi unhappy with Yogi's thumping policy

Hyderabad : AIMIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday targeted the Uttar Pradesh government over the Bahraich encounter and said that the 'thok do' policy is against the Constitution. Owaisi accused Yogi government that the video of the encounter looked like a “Netflix movie”. The government has used the police to promote hostility towards a particular community. Owaisi also criticized this policy.

Owaisi said, “This is an example of the UP CM's 'thok do' policy which has been going on for the last few years. We have told BJP, PM Modi and UP CM many times that this policy of 'thok do' is against the Constitution… Uttar Pradesh should be governed by the Constitution and rule of law, not by the rule of gun. If you do something wrong, it will keep going and anybody will shoot anybody.”

Owaisi expressed doubt over the encounter and said, “The police should have arrested him and shown him, but they did not do so. Who hid the weapon 70 km away from the spot and how far away was the encounter?… Video looked like a Netflix movie… Inspector should go to Netflix, he will be paid a lot… Encounter police to be sent to Olympics because of their perfect aim “If there is evidence (against the accused), then take them to court and punish them.”

Asaduddin Owaisi said, “If you are a judge then what is the purpose of the court and the Constitution?… Hatred is being shown against a community.” BJP leader Syed Zafar Islam defended the police action, saying, “Protocol was completely followed and bullets were fired only to neutralize the accused. This is a significant achievement for UP Police and should be appreciated.”

Former Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh praised the police, saying, “The violence that happened is unfortunate, but the UP Police took action against the main accused Mohammed Sarfaraz, he is injured and undergoing treatment. This is a big success for UP Police.”

Of the five people arrested in connection with the Bahraich violence, two were injured during the encounter while the remaining three were taken into custody. Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar confirmed that the situation is now under control. The DGP said, “When the police were taking the five arrested accused to recover weapons near the India-Nepal border, Sarfaraz and Talib attempted to escape. During his escape, bullets were fired, injuring him. Abdul Hameed, Faheem and Abdul Afzal were also arrested. All five accused are now in custody and the situation is under control.”

SP Vrinda Shukla said, “When the police team went to Nanpara area to recover the murder weapon, Sarfaraz alias Rinku and Talib alias Sablu had loaded weapons with which they opened fire at the police. The police retaliated in self-defense, in which both were injured. He is currently undergoing treatment. The other three accused have also been arrested and all five are now officially detained. The search for the remaining suspects is ongoing,”

You may recall that Ram Gopal Mishra was killed and several others were injured after a clash between two communities during the Durga idol immersion procession in Mahsi area of Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.
