Looting Police of Bihar: GRP jawans looted gold worth Rs 1.44 crore in Howrah-Bikaner Express.
Gaya, 30th December. A disgusting case of nexus between police and crime has come to light in Bihar, where four Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, taking advantage of their uniform, looted one kg of gold worth Rs 1.44 crore from an employee of a gold trader. This incident happened last month in Howrah-Jodhpur-Bikaner Express between Gaya-Koderma.
Not only this, after committing the crime, the policemen intimidated the victim and sent him back to Howrah. This truth came to light after the investigation was completed. Now, on the instructions of Patna Railway SSP, an FIR has been registered at Gaya Railway Police Station and the search for the accused has been started.
Robbery by stopping train between Koderma-Gaya
The incident took place on November 20, when Dhananjay Shashwat, staff of Bengal gold trader Manoj Soni, was going to Jaipur with one kg of gold worth Rs 1.44 crore. As soon as the train reached between Koderma and Gaya station, four constables posted at Gaya Railway Station searched Dhananjay. The soldiers’ resolve wavered as soon as they saw the gold biscuits in the bag. They beat up Dhananjay and snatched the bag full of gold.
The victim was forcibly sent back to Howrah.
After the robbery, the accused constables threatened Dhananjay to get down at Gaya station and return after buying a ticket to Howrah. Frightened Dhananjay landed in Gaya and returned to Bengal and narrated his ordeal to his boss Manoj Soni. After this, the businessman first appealed to the Malipanchghara police station of Bengal and then to the officials of Patna Railway Police for justice.
Railway police woke up after MP’s intervention
Gold trader Manoj Soni also informed Khagaria MP Rajesh Verma about this serious matter. The matter gained momentum after the intervention of the MP and conversation with Patna Railway SSP Dr. Enamul Haq. On the instructions of the SSP, an FIR was registered under relevant sections of BNS at Gaya Railway Station, nine days after the incident, on 29th November.
Railway SP reached Gaya for investigation
Railway SP Enamul Haq himself reached Gayaji railway station on Monday for a high-level investigation into the matter. Railway DSP and police station incharge were also present with him. The SSP has clarified that the guilty constables are being identified on the basis of CCTV footage and other evidence and strict action will be ensured against them.
The staff was also made accused
In the FIR lodged by Gaya Railway Station Head Rajesh Kumar Singh, along with four unidentified GRP constables, the staff carrying the gold consignment, Dhananjay Shashwat, has also been made accused. The police is also investigating whether the staff had any involvement in this entire conspiracy or whether they tried to hide the information.
Raids begin for arrest, panic in railway police department
According to sources, the identity of the accused constables, who are posted at Gaya Railway Station, is considered almost certain. The SSP has directed the police station incharge to arrest the accused as soon as possible and recover the looted gold. After this incident, there is a stir in Gaya Railway Police Department.
