After the Malviya Nagar fire incident in Delhi, a high level meeting of Delhi Government was held on Friday, which was led by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta herself. During this period many tough decisions were taken. The government has decided to implement Delhi Disaster Management Act i.e. DDMA- 2005 to stop illegal construction and violation of safety rules.

Delhi government has decided that the loss will be compensated from the salary, pension and property of the officers who ignore illegal construction. Officers found guilty may be jailed for up to two years. Delhi Government has decided that District Magistrates have been given supreme powers to coordinate with all concerned departments and take immediate action on illegal construction.

Order has been given to seal illegal buildings having a total height of more than five storeys including ground floor i.e. ground plus 4. A major decision has been taken to officially withdraw the Bed and Breakfast scheme which has become the center of irregularities and accidents. In hotels where more than six rooms are found, their licenses will be cancelled.
Campaign will be launched to check safety rules
After the Malviya Nagar fire, the Delhi government has decided to launch a month-long massive investigation campaign against hotels, guest houses and commercial complexes violating fire safety norms. Delhi government will launch an intensive campaign to check fire safety rules in hotels, coaching centers and nursing centers. All guesthouses and commercial buildings violating the rules and running illegally will be sealed immediately.

Delhi government to honor heroes who save lives
The special thing is that the Delhi government has announced to honor the heroes who saved the lives of people in the accident. Financial compensation and assistance will be announced for the families affected and the injured in the accident. The government has formed a joint committee under the chairmanship of the Home Minister to prevent fire incidents.

21 people died in Delhi fire
A fire broke out in a five-storey building in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar two days ago. 21 people died in the accident, out of which 11 were foreign nationals. More than 37 people have also been injured, who are being treated in three different hospitals including Delhi AIIMS, Max. Delhi government has announced a compensation amount of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the deceased. At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing grief over the accident, has announced to give Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand each to the injured.
