A petition demanding a ban on the film
The petition states that the film’s title paints an offensive image of the Yadav community. The film is also claimed to show a Hindu girl from the Yadav community falling in love with a Muslim man. The lawyer representing the petitioner said that the film is based on a true incident.
The Supreme Court disagreed
Justice B.V. The petition was heard before a bench of Nagaratna and Ujjal Bhuyan. “Marrying a Hindu girl to a Muslim boy is damaging to the fabric of the country,” the bench questioned. The bench said, “We have examined the material on record. The main complaint is that the name of the upcoming film tarnishes the image of the Yadav community in the society. Therefore, it is argued that the name of the film should be changed. We do not understand how the title of the film can portray any community in a negative light. There is not a single word in the title of the film that portrays the Yadav community in a negative light. These suspicions are completely baseless.”

The court said that the word “corrupt” in English means corrupt and therefore, a false image was attached to a community. “No such false image has been attached to the Yadav community in this case,” the court said. He said the name does not in any way portray the Yadav community in a negative light. The court also mentioned the movie “Bandit Queen”. It said, “They were saying that the film ‘Bandit Queen’ portrayed the Gujjar community in a negative light. Whether this court said no, it was not.”
