Some people decide to arrange marriages, others do it in a traditional way Love marriage do But, during love marriages, the parents of the young or young woman often did not get any information. However, that will not happen now. The Gujarat government has proposed significant changes in the marriage registration rules. Accordingly, parents have to be informed about love marriage.
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi proposed to amend the Gujarat Marriage Registration Act in the state assembly. The government said the move is being taken to prevent fake marriages and hidden identities in inter-faith marriages. Under the proposal, brides and grooms will now have to submit a declaration at the time of marriage registration, stating whether they have informed their parents about the marriage or not. The application will require the name, address, Aadhaar number and mobile number of both the parents.
Meanwhile, after checking the application, Assistant Registrar will send notification to parents through WhatsApp, e-mail or other means within 10 working days. The government believes that this will provide timely information to families.
More time to issue certificates
As per the new proposal, issuance of marriage certificates may take 30 to 40 days. Any objections during this period will be investigated. All the documents have to be uploaded on the online portal and a separate portal will be created for this purpose. Photographs of witnesses and Aadhaar card will also be mandatory to prevent fraud.
Effective implementation of laws for the protection of girls
Harsh Sanghvi said in the assembly that this decision is being taken to protect girls and strengthen social order. He said that strict action will be taken against those who get married under false pretenses. Over the years, numerous cases of young women being lured to other states have come to light. So now this important decision is being taken.
