LPG Crisis: Relief for the common man amid the LPG crisis, now kerosene will be available at petrol pumps, government changed the rules.
News India Live, Digital Desk: Amidst the global energy crisis and LPG shortage caused by the Iran war, the Indian government has taken a very important decision on Sunday. In view of the impact on energy supply due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the Central Government has relaxed the rules related to kerosene (kerosene) distribution to provide relief to the general public. The government has announced relaxation in petroleum safety and licensing norms to ensure fast and uninterrupted supply of kerosene for domestic use. This decision will directly benefit those 21 states and union territories, which had earlier become ‘kerosene free’. Only two petrol pumps will be selected in each district. According to the changes made in the new guidelines and rules issued by the government, now permission has been given to store and distribute kerosene oil at the petrol pumps of public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs). However, this feature will not be available on all pumps. Only a maximum of two petrol pumps in each district will be nominated for this. Up to 5000 liters of kerosene can be stored at these selected petrol pumps, so that the common people can get oil easily. 21 states will get immediate relief from this crisis. It is noteworthy that due to the Iran war, the supply chain of fuel and gas has been badly affected across the world. To deal with this challenging situation, the Center has decided to make temporary allocation of Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) under the Public Distribution System (PDS) to the States and Union Territories. This allocation is mainly for the 21 states and union territories that had become kerosene free under the PDS. The main objective of the government is to ensure that cooking and lighting arrangements can be made in common houses without any hindrance. Relaxation given in the rules, but there will be strictness on misuse. According to the notification, in order to speed up the supply chain and deliver oil to every home, dealers and vehicles associated with kerosene storage, transportation and distribution have been given temporary exemption from the licensing provisions of the Petroleum Rules 2002. However, the government has given strict instructions that misuse of kerosene will not be allowed under any circumstances. This oil can be used only for cooking and lighting in homes. Do not pay attention to rumours, there is enough petrol and diesel in the country. Amidst the news of closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has assured the countrymen that there is no shortage of fuel and gas in India. The Ministry has clarified that all the refineries of the country are working at their full capacity and there is sufficient reserve of Crude Oil. Availability of petrol and diesel is normal throughout the country. The government has appealed to the people not to indulge in any kind of rumors and indulge in panic buying. There is sufficient fuel available at all the petrol pumps in the country and the supply is completely smooth.
