In order to make supply transparent and ensure that gas is available to the right consumers, the Ministry of Petroleum, Government of India has amended the rules in March 2026, restricting LPG connections to households where PNG is available. That is, a house where piped gas (PNG) is available, is expected to surrender the LPG cylinder connection. The government’s objective is to reduce the strain on LPG, prevent black market and misuse and to provide LPG on priority to households where LPG is not available. According to the new rules, the LPG service of customers who have not surrendered their LPG connection or deposited with the agency may be shut off from the month of June. There are indications that such customers will not get supply of LPG cylinders further. LPG Gas Cylinder New Rules
