LSG got a big blow, this match winner of Rs 2 crore is out of IPL 2026 without playing a single match.
News India Live, Digital Desk: A bad news is coming out from the camp of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which is running in great rhythm in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The team’s star Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been completely ruled out of the current season due to injury. Lucknow had bought him at the base price of ₹ 2 crore in last year’s mini auction, but his exit without playing a single match is being considered a big strategic blow for the team. Hamstring injury became the villain: The injury suffered during the T20 World Cup is quite old. He suffered a hamstring injury (muscle strain) in a match against Ireland during the T20 World Cup in February 2026. Since then he has been away from the cricket field. The Lucknow team was hoping that he would join the team in the middle of the tournament, but due to not appearing in the mandatory fitness test of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and delay in recovery, he will not be seen in the IPL this year. Tom Moody confirmed: New player will be announced in 24-48 hours Lucknow Super Giants Cricket Director Tom Moody confirmed this news during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. He told that Hasaranga will no longer be a part of the team and the franchise is considering his replacement. If sources are to be believed, South African all-rounder George Linde can replace Hasaranga. Linde is known for his spin bowling and aggressive batting in the lower order. Lucknow’s spin department is strong even without Hasaranga. Even though a world-class spinner like Hasaranga is out, Lucknow Super Giants, captained by Rishabh Pant, has no dearth of options. The team currently has talented spinners like Ravi Bishnoi, M Siddharth, Shahbaz Ahmed and Digvey Rathi. The team has won two out of the three matches played so far and has maintained a strong position in the points table.
