Luck of women of UP will shine: Now rural entrepreneurs will become ‘millionaires’

A big and encouraging news has come out for the rural women of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM) has joined hands with Tata Power Community Development Trust to make the women of the state self-reliant and economically empowered. The MoU was signed between the two institutions at a special event organized in Lucknow on Wednesday, July 8. This partnership is going to change the picture of women entrepreneurship in the state.

What is the real purpose of this partnership?

The main objective of this MoU is to provide greater opportunities to women associated with Self Help Groups (SHGs). Through this initiative, not only will new avenues of employment be opened, but women in rural areas will be able to start their own business. The mission in collaboration with Tata Power will train women in modern technologies and help them take the products made by them to the market. This will not only increase the skill capacity of women, but will also significantly increase their income.

Millet café and agro-processing will change the picture

Under this agreement, many new initiatives will be started across the state. These include setting up millet cafes and agro-processing units. Through these enterprises, women will not only produce their own goods, but will also get a professional platform. Mission Director Deepa Ranjan said that the objective of this partnership is to make rural women truly ‘millionaire entrepreneurs’. At the same time, Tata Power Chairman Himal Tiwari said that our primary objective is to provide local products to the global market and empower women.

This initiative can prove to be a milestone in strengthening the rural economy. This collaboration between the government and the private sector can lead to a flood of women-led enterprises in rural areas, which will not only improve the economic condition of women, but will also enable them to create a new identity in the society.
