Lucknow Premier League: Samyak Trivedi sold for Rs. 1.25 lakh, preparations for LPL intensified under UPCA guidelines
Lucknow, Read: After the controversy over organizing the Lucknow Cricket League (LPL), the organizers have intensified preparations as per the guidelines issued by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). 58 new players were bought and sold in the supplementary auction held at BBD Academy, Gomti Nagar on Thursday. In this, all-rounder Samyak Trivedi was sold for the most expensive price of Rs 1.25 lakh. Lucknow Ashes added him to their fold.
Yorker Club’s left-arm spinner Aditya Kumar Singh joined Lucknow Strikers for Rs 1.15 lakh, while Akhil Infra batsman Ajit Verma was bought by the same franchise for Rs 1.10 lakh. All three players were sold for more than Rs 1 lakh and were the center of attraction of the auction.
Purchase of 102 players so far
All the 58 players included in this supplementary auction were from Lucknow. Earlier, 44 players had been auctioned. Thus far, a total of 102 players have been added by various franchises. Under UPCA instructions, it is mandatory for each franchise to include 17 local players in its team, while only a maximum of two players from outside can be kept in the team. Each franchise will prepare a squad of 22 players.
Only those players who had given trials for the LPL were included in the auction. On this occasion, CAL President Dr. Navneet Sehgal, Secretary KM Khan, League Commissioner SP Mishra and all the franchise owners were present.
Competitions will be held in KD Singh Babu Stadium
Dr. Navneet Sehgal said that all the preparations for the league are being done as per the guidelines of UPCA. All matches will be played at KD Singh Babu Stadium. One match per day will be held during the day and the other in floodlights. Franchise teams will soon announce their final squads.
Possibility of change in dates
Meanwhile, there is a possibility of change in the proposed dates of Lucknow Premier League (LPL). Due to the delay in the selection of players, the league starting from March 7 may be extended by a few days. This topic was discussed in detail in the meeting of officials of Cricket Association of Lucknow. Officials believe that it would be a practical decision to postpone the start of the league to compensate for the delay in the selection process. In the next one or two days, CAL officials will visit KD Singh Babu Stadium and take stock of the availability and preparations of the ground. After this the new possible dates will be officially announced.
