It is said that the 22nd king of Nagvansh, Gajadhar Rai and son of Ram Mon Rai, built this temple between 869 AD and 905 AD. After that he handed over the responsibility of taking care of the temple to his Guru Harinath. Later, King Shivdas had installed the statue of Lord Vishnu in this temple.
