Like a door long kept shut, Apple’s touchscreen Mac may finally be ready to turn the handle.

Apple is expected to unveil a new “affordable” MacBook on March 4, but fresh reports suggest a far bigger shift may be underway. According to Bloomberg, the Cupertino-based giant is preparing to enter the touchscreen laptop space later this year — a category it has historically resisted.
The upcoming touch-enabled Macs are tipped to feature OLED displays, similar to those found in recent iPhones. More intriguingly, they may include an iPhone-like Dynamic Island positioned at the top centre of the screen, introducing a new interactive element to the Mac interface. Apple is also reportedly refreshing its 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED panels, marking a significant display upgrade.
However, these touchscreen MacBook Pros will not be positioned as iPad replacements. Instead, Apple is said to be developing a dynamic interface that adapts based on how users interact — whether via touch or traditional keyboard and mouse input. For instance, tapping a control could trigger a contextual menu around the user’s finger, with enlarged, more tappable options.
