Macron India Visit: French President Macron’s plane reached Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi said- Welcome to India
Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that India is excited about the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron and taking bilateral relations to new heights. Modi said this while commenting on a ‘post’ of Macron on ‘X’
The French President had said in the post that he has left for India and during his three-day visit to Mumbai and New Delhi, he and Modi will take the strategic partnership of the two countries further.
Prime Minister Modi wrote on ‘X’, “Welcome to India! India looks forward to your visit and taking our bilateral relations to new heights. I am confident that our discussions will further strengthen cooperation in various fields and contribute to global progress. My dear friend – Emmanuel Macron, see you in Mumbai and then in Delhi।”
Earlier, while leaving for India, Macron had written on ‘X’ on Monday, “I have left for India.” A three-day journey from Mumbai to New Delhi… so that our strategic partnership can be taken further. With me on the plane are business leaders and people from the economic, industrial, cultural and digital sectors who give a real, concrete shape to the relations between India and France. Together we will take the cooperation further. My dear friend Narendra Modi, see you tomorrow.
The two leaders will review the progress made in the India-France strategic partnership. President Macron is on an official visit to India from February 17 to 19 at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi to attend the AI (Artificial Intelligence) Summit hosted by India and hold a bilateral summit in Mumbai. This is President Macron’s fourth visit to India and first to Mumbai.
French President Emmanuel Macron reached Mumbai late on Monday night where he will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this meeting, both the leaders will review the progress made in the strategic partnership between India and France. Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis received Macron at the airport.
Shortly after Macron’s arrival in Mumbai, Fadnavis wrote on ‘X’ at around 2 am, “Welcome to Mumbai. French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron are warmly welcomed on their arrival in Mumbai. Maharashtra welcomes you. I wish President Macron and the entire French delegation a pleasant stay and a successful visit.
Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar were also present at the airport to welcome Macron. The discussions between Modi and Macron will focus on strengthening strategic ties and making them more diverse in new and emerging areas. The two leaders will also share views on issues of regional and global importance. They will review the progress made in the India-France strategic partnership. President Macron is on an official visit to India from February 17 to 19 at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi to attend the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Impact Summit hosted by India and hold a bilateral summit in Mumbai.
This is President Macron’s fourth visit to India and first to Mumbai. The two leaders will hold bilateral talks at Lok Bhawan in South Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. He will then inaugurate the India-France Innovation Year 2026 and address a gathering of business leaders, start-ups, researchers and other innovators from both the countries.
