Aamir Khan’s film which was made on a budget of Rs 220 crore film failed to impress the audience and was a massive flop at the box office.

The storyline of a film often determines its success or failure. If the director has crafted a gripping script with the potential to hold the audience’s interest and deliver what they want, then the chances of the movie having a successful theatrical run increase. However, if the movie fails to meet these expectations, the result can be disappointing. Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan, made on a budget of Rs 220 crore, is a prime example. The film failed to impress the audience and was a massive flop at the box office.

According to a report by IMDb, producer Aditya Chopra initially planned to cast Vaani Kapoor for the role of Jafira in the movie. However, Aamir Khan, who played the lead role, declined this choice and insisted that Fatima Sana Shaikh be selected for the role instead. The film also featured Aamir in romantic scenes with Fatima, who is almost half his age. Before Thugs of Hindostan, Aamir and Fatima played the roles of Mahavir Singh Phogat and Geeta Phogat in Dangal.

Thugs of Hindostan was produced under the Yash Raj Films banner. The makers invested crores, and the film was shot in various locations, including Malta, Morocco, and Thailand. Despite these efforts, the movie performed poorly at the box office. Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan earned Rs 52 crore on its opening day, setting a significant record. The film’s weekend earnings reached Rs 123 crore. However, after this, its collections began to fall. Although the film managed to recover some costs, it only earned Rs 151 crore in India.

The entire team spared no effort in making the film, yet it failed to achieve the desired results. Thugs of Hindostan was directed and written by Vijay Krishna Acharya and also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles.

Coming back to Aamir Khan’s work front, the actor has been away from the silver screen for quite some time. However, he, along with his ex-wife Kiran Rao, produced Laapata Ladies, which won the hearts of audiences. Now, Laapata Ladies has been nominated for the Oscars 2024.
