Made in Rs 300 crore, the film earned Rs 500 crore, grabbed no 1 position on OTT, lead actor romanced 14-year younger heroine, not Stree 2, Jawan…
After its opening day collection, this film in its first weekend became the highest grossing movie worldwide.
Devara made a strong impact at the box office with its impressive collection. Helmed by Telugu director Koratala Siva, it marks the Telugu debut of Janhvi Kapoor, the daughter of legendary Sridevi. It also sees Jr NTR’s solo venture in Telugu cinema after six years. Besides NTR and Kapoor, the film also features Saif Ali Khan as antagonist, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Murali Sharma, and Kalaiyarasan in supporting roles.
Despite mixed reviews, the film’s box office collection is surprising. According to trade sources, the film has grossed Rs 500 crore worldwide. This is the biggest record yet for Jr NTR. The film successfully pulled in audiences from various regions. Devara especially did well in Hindi and Telugu version.
Although, the high-octane action drama struggled in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, where it saw minimal collection. But the huge success in Hindi and Telugu resulted in impressive overall Box office earnings.
Made in Rs 300 crore, Devara in its first weekend after the release became highest grossing film worldwide. It broke the record of films like Animal, Pathaan, Jawan, catching the second spot in the films to have made more than a million. Moreover, it is already the highest-grossing film on director Koratala Siva’s resume. Even Janhvi hasn’t delivered any bigger hit than Devara so far. After its theatrical release, the film is currently streaming on Netflix and is trending No 1.
Talking about the film’s storyline, Devara Part: 1, starring Jr NTR, is about a man who is both feared and respected in four villages in a costal area called Devara. The story shows his journey from being a dacoit to leaving crime behind and becoming a legend. Because of his terrifying reputation, other villagers avoid crime, while his enemies try to take back control. Amid this, his son Vara tries to build a life for himself, which is very different from his father’s legacy. The rest of the film focuses on Devara’s enemies as they try to weaken him and destroy his legendary status, while he secretly stays strong among them, prepared to protect himself and his legacy.
