Made the impossible possible! Where WHO failed, how did Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali create history?
Sometimes, what the biggest institutions of the world cannot do, the soil and determination of India can do it. This is the story of Patanjali Yogpeeth, which did what the World Health Organization (WHO) had considered impossible. Patanjali has created history by preparing a huge encyclopedia like ‘World Herbal Encyclopedia’. The situation is such that today the uncrowned king of the world of technology ‘Google’ is also standing at the doorstep of Patanjali for this valuable information.
When the world’s largest health organization accepted defeat
It is the year 1999, when WHO started a mega-project to bring together medicinal plants and traditional treatment methods from around the world. After nearly 11 years of deliberations, WHO stopped this project in 2010. The reason was that this work was extremely complex and impossible. The result was that this WHO project was reduced to just three volumes.
The story of success was being written silently in India
At the same time, around the year 2003-04, Patanjali Yogpeeth in India started its work in this direction. The interesting thing is that at that time the institute was not even aware of the failed project of WHO. While scientists all over the world had accepted defeat, the torch of research and determination was burning in India. After almost two decades of hard work and research, this book finally appeared before the world in its complete form in 2022.
20 years of penance and a great book of 1.25 lakh pages
The result of this 20 years of hard work of Patanjali is very shocking. During this period, 3.60 lakh plants were examined, out of which 50,000 medicinal plants were identified. Not only this, the researchers documented the traditional knowledge and 964 healing practices of more than 2000 tribes. This World Herbal Encyclopedia includes more than 9 medical systems and has collected more than 12 lakh local names of plants. Overall, this huge repository of 1.25 lakh pages is based on more than 2200 research sources.
Acharya Balkrishna’s big announcement in Doon Book Festival
Recently, at the ‘Doon Book Festival’ in Dehradun, Acharya Balkrishna shared the information about this historic achievement. He told that 109 volumes of this great book have been completed. He proudly said that this is not just a book, but a unique attempt to preserve the entire human civilization and the knowledge of traditional medicine.
Why did Google need Patanjali’s data?
The most exciting turn of this entire achievement came when digital giant Google showed its interest in this data. According to reports, Google wants to use this evidence-based data to make its Artificial Intelligence (AI) more accurate and better. This is proof that India’s ancient Ayurveda and traditional knowledge is now going to become the backbone of modern technology.
The world is acknowledging the power of Indian knowledge.
According to Acharya Balkrishna, this project is a victory of India’s scientific approach and determination. Where big global institutions failed, Indian tradition created history. ‘World Pharmacopoeia’ today is proof that if the intention is strong, then no work in the world is impossible. Now the whole world is looking towards this knowledge of India with hopeful eyes.
