Magic vs Mavericks injury report for April 3
The Orlando Magic visit the American Airlines Center on Friday, April 3 to face the Dallas Mavericks at 8:30 p.m. ET, but both teams enter the matchup with significant injuries affecting rotations and on-court production.
Orlando will be without Anthony Black, who is sidelined with a left lateral abdominal strain, as well as Jonathan Isaac, out with a left knee sprain. The Magic also lose two G League two-way players, Colin Castleton and Alex Morales.
The Magic rely heavily on Paolo Banchero, averaging 22.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game, while Franz Wagner contributes 21.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest. Desmond Bane adds 20.3 points per game and serves as a primary outside shooting threat.
Dallas faces its own injury challenges. Kyrie Irving remains out following left knee surgery, and Dereck Lively II is sidelined with right foot surgery. Marvin Bagley III is doubtful with a left shoulder impingement, while Caleb Martin and P.J. Washington are also listed as doubtful due to plantar fascia strain and illness, respectively. Two-way players Moussa Cisse is questionable, while John Poulakidas and Tyler Smith are probable.
Despite absences, Dallas has Cooper Flagg leading the way with 20.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. Naji Marshall adds 15.5 points, and Max Christie contributes 12.2 points with a 40.3 percent three-point shooting clip. Daniel Gafford provides inside scoring and rebounding efficiency, averaging 6.9 rebounds and 9.6 points per game.
The teams have split their recent encounters, with Orlando narrowly defeating Dallas 115-114 at the Mavericks’ home on March 5.
The Magic have gone 1-1 in their last two games, including a 130-101 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on April 1, while Dallas lost consecutive games to the Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Orlando enters the matchup with a 40-36 record, securing a postseason spot but sitting ninth in the Eastern Conference. Dallas has been eliminated from playoff contention at 24-52, placing 13th in the Western Conference.
