Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: Schedule for Shahi Snan for akharas on Makar Sankranti

New Delhi: The Mahakumbh Mela administration has officially finalised the schedule for the ‘Shahi Snan’ (also known as ‘Rajsi Snan’ or ‘Amrit Snan’) to be performed by the 13 akharas on the three major bathing days of the Mela in 2025. The major bathing dates are Makar Sankranti (January 14), Mauni Amavasya (January 29), and Basant Panchami (February 3).

The akharas, which are divided into three categories – Sanyasi, Bairagi, and Udaseen – will undertake the Shahi Snan in a specific sequence. The procession for the snan will enter the Sangam Nose area from Triveni Marg (Sector 20) via two pontoon bridges and will return via two other pontoon bridges after completing the holy dip.

The first akharas to take the Shahi Snan on Makar Sankranti will be Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani and Shri Panchayati Atal Akhara. They will depart their camps at 5.15am, reach the ghats by 6.15am, and perform the snan for 40 minutes. The procession will return to the camp at 7.55am.

Sanyasi, Bairagi, and Udaseen

Following them, the Shri Taponidhi Panchayati Shri Niranjani Akhara and Shri Panchayati Akhara Anand will depart at 6.05am, reaching the ghats at 7.05am for a 40-minute snan, departing by 7.45am, and returning to their camp by 8.45am.

The next group includes Shri Panchdashnam Juna Akhara, Shri Panchdashnam Avahan Akhara, and Shri Panchagni Akhara. These will depart at 7am, reach the ghats by 8am, take a 40-minute dip, and return to their camps by 9.40am.

The Bairagi akharas will perform their snan after the Sanyasi akharas. The Akhil Bhartiya Shri Panch Nirmohi Ani Akhara will leave at 9.40am, reach the ghats at 10.40am, and perform the snan for 30 minutes, departing by 11.10am and returning to their camp by 12.10pm.

This will be followed by the Akhil Bhartiya Shri Panch Digambar Ani Akhara, which will depart at 10.20am, reach the ghats at 11.20am, perform the snan for 50 minutes, and return to the camp by 1.10pm.

Shri Panchayati Nirmal Akhara last to perform Shahi Snan

The final Bairagi akhara, the Akhil Bhartiya Shri Panch Nirvani Ani Akhara, will depart at 11.20am, reach the ghats at 12.20pm, perform the snan for 30 minutes, and return to the camp by 1.50pm.

The Udaseen akharas will take their turn later. The Shri Panchayati Naya Udaseen Akhara will leave at 12.15pm, reach the ghats at 1.15pm, and perform a 55-minute snan, departing by 2.10pm and returning to the camp by 3.10pm.

Following this, the Shri Panchayati Akhara, Naya Udaseen, Nirvani Akhara will depart at 1.20pm, reach the ghats at 2.20pm, and take an hour-long snan, returning to the camp by 4.20pm.

The last akhara to perform the Shahi Snan will be the Shri Panchayati Nirmal Akhara. It will depart at 2.40pm, reach the ghats at 3.40pm, take a 40-minute dip, and return to their camp at 5.20pm.
