Mahabaleshwar: Scorpio fell into 1500 feet deep ditch, 8 people died
Eight people died after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) fell into a ditch in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. Raigarh Police gave this information on Monday. Police said that this accident happened on Sunday in Ambenli Ghat area on Poladpur-Mahabaleshwar road.
Police have said that those who died in the accident were from Satara. The passengers were proceeding from Dapoli towards Satara when the vehicle fell into a deep gorge. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

How did the accident happen?
Ambenli Ghat is known for its sharp turns. About 40 kilometers long road which has many sharp turns. There were difficulties in the rescue operation due to darkness and deep ditch. Police are also looking for other reasons.
Who are the people who died?
All the deceased were residents of Asgaon village of Koregaon taluka of Satara. The names of the deceased have now become public. Those who died include Mahesh Anil Pawar, Aditya Ashok, Ritesh Rajendra Lokhande, Suhas Jitendra Lokhande, Ansh Sameer Chavan, Utkarsh Anand Shingte, Anil Abhimanyu Shingte and Nitin Kisan Nayakonde. The age of the deceased is between 18 to 35 years.

How did you know about the accident?
The accident happened near Dabeli village. When people heard the loud noise, they ran to the spot. Local people called Poladpur police station, administration officials and police personnel reached the spot. Rescue operations were carried out with the help of local people and disaster friends. Many passengers died on the spot.
