Mahakumbh Mela 2025: Indian Railways takes colour-coded steps for bathing days

New Delhi: The Mahakumbh Mela 2025 has started from January 13 and will end on February 26. It is being held in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh and crores of devotees are visiting the largest religious gathering in India. It is believed that taking a holy bath at the Mahakumbh washes away all sins and enables a person to attain salvation. Since people from different parts of the country are going to the Mahakumbh and train is the most popular mode of public transport here, the Indian Railways is leaving no stones unturned to facilitate a smooth journey for the travelers.

Keeping the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela 2025 in mind, the Indian Railways has undertaken massive preparations. It has invested more than Rs 5000 crore to develop new infrastructure but also to strengthen the existing assets. The Railways has especially focused on things like operating the special trains for Mahakumbh, installation of CCTV cameras, announcements in 12 languages at stations, etc. Also, it has redeveloped nine stations which are situated in and around Prayagraj Junction and also constructed new Roads over Bridges.

Color coding of Yatri Ashrayas during Mahakumbh bathing days

A color coding system has been introduced by the North Central Railway for Yatri Ashrayas at Prayagraj Chheoki, Prayagraj Junction, Subedarganj railway station and Naini Junction.

  • Those who are going towards Varanasi and Lucknow can stay at Yatri Ashray number 1 whose colour code is Red.
  • Those going to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay can stay Yatri Ashray number 2 and its colour code is Blue.
  • Those passengers going to Jhansi, Manikpur, and Satna can stay in Yatri Ashray number 3 whose colour code is yellow. Those going to Kanpur can stay at Yatri Ashray number 5 whose colour code is green. Also, all reserved passengers can stay in Yatri Ashray number 5.

Trains from different stations at Prayagraj during bathing days

There are nine railway stations in and around Prayagraj. Those going towards Kanpur, Jhansi, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayay, and Satna can catch their trains from Prayagraj Junction. Also, those looking to go to Satna, Jhansi, and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayay can catch their trains from Naini Junction. One can also catch trains from Prayagraj Chheoki to go to these places. Those going to Kanpur can also catch trains from Subedarganj station.

Those going to Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Jaunpur can catch their trains from Prayagraj Sangam. One can also catch trains from Prayaj Junction station and Phaphamau Junction to go to these places. Those going to Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Mau can catch their trains from Prayagraj Rambag station.
