Maharashtra ATS Raid: Big action by ATS on the network of Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti, raids in many cities
Mumbai, 14 July. Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has once again launched a major operation against the alleged network linked to Pakistani gangster Shehzad Bhatti. On Wednesday, simultaneous raids were conducted in many areas of the state including Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad. During this time, many ATS teams reached suspicious locations and detained many people for questioning.
According to Maharashtra ATS, initial investigation has revealed that Shehzad Bhatti, along with his associates, was trying to reach out to Indian youth through social media platforms. Investigating agencies say that mediums like Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and WhatsApp were allegedly being used to establish contacts and spread the network. At present ATS is thoroughly investigating all suspicious contacts and activities.
Major action was also taken on 10th July
Earlier on July 10 also, Maharashtra ATS had launched a massive search and interrogation operation against the suspects who came in contact with Shehzad Bhatti. During that time, 58 teams of 14 units of ATS had simultaneously raided 102 places across the state. Security agencies feared that efforts were being made to allegedly instigate Indian youth for anti-national activities through social media.
Colleagues also under investigation
According to the investigating agencies, along with Shehzad Bhatti, his alleged associates Abid Jat, Ajmal Gujar and Hammad Memon are also said to be part of this network. According to preliminary investigation, these people were trying to establish contact with the youth through various social media platforms.
Accused of using sensitive issues
Preliminary investigation by ATS has also revealed that this alleged network was trying to influence the youth by using religious and socially sensitive issues. Investigative agencies allege that efforts were being made to link unemployed and economically weak youth with alleged anti-national activities and possible sleeper cells by luring them with money. At present, the action of Maharashtra ATS is going on and all the aspects related to the case are being investigated in detail.
