Maharashtra civic elections 2025: Mahayuti achieves historic victory on 215 seats, MVA loses badly
Mahayuti has achieved historic success in the 2025 civic elections held in Maharashtra. Out of total 288 seats, Mahayuti alliance left the opposition behind by capturing 215 seats. In this great victory, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the largest party with 129 seats, while Chief Minister Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena won 51 seats and Ajit Pawar’s NCP won 35 seats.
BJP’s thrilling victory in Chiplun Municipal Council
In the municipal elections, BJP won Sandeep Bhise’s thrilling victory in Chiplun Municipal Council of Ratnagiri district by a margin of only one vote. Apart from this, Mahayuti alliance made a strong lead in many municipal councils of Konkan region including Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
At the same time, the performance of the constituent parties of Mahavikas Aghadi was quite weak. Congress won 35 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) won 9 and NCP (Sharad Pawar) won only 7 seats. Of the total 288 presidential posts, Mahayuti was ahead on 213 seats, in which BJP emerged as the largest party. This success has further strengthened the popularity of Mahayuti after the assembly elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to the people
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to the people of Maharashtra on this historic victory of Mahayuti and said that the state stands firmly with development. At the same time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while thanking the people of the state, said that this is a proof of the people’s consent to the welfare vision of the central and state government of NDA under the leadership of Vijay Modi ji. He congratulated all the workers including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that for the first time BJP has got such huge success in municipal and city council elections. He said that this victory is the result of the positive environment of the Modi government and the dedicated efforts of the party leaders.
There was a tough fight between BJP and Shinde faction’s Shiv Sena in Palghar district. In four municipal councils, both the parties created a tie by winning two seats each. The Shinde faction elected Uttam Gharat (Palghar) and Rajendra Machhi (Dahanu) as city presidents, while the BJP made Pooja Udavant victorious in Jawhar and Reema Gandhe as city presidents in Wada. In this way, power in the district remained shared between the two parties.
