Maharashtra: College student runs over by express train, probe initiated

Palghar: In a tragic incident in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, a college student was run over by an express train while she was trying to cross the track with earphone in her ears. As per the police, the accident might have taken place as the woman could not hear the train coming on the track.

Sharing details, the police said that the victim has been identified as Vaishnavi Rawal, a student of Makne village. She was trying to cross the track Rajdhani Express hit hear Safale railway station in Palghar.

Risk due to no flyover in village

It may be noted that with no flyover on near Makne, the locals are forced to cross the railway dangerously. Many students and other passers-by have earphones in their ears which passing the railway track or roads. They do not even notice the approaching trains or vehicles. The entire locality, where Vaishnavi used to live, is under shock. While the probe in the incident has begun, the Railway Police has registered the ADR in the incident.

In a separate incident, a man identified as Devan Sahni lost his life near Soro railway station in Balasore after he was run over by a speeding train. As per the police, the victim was traveling with his relatives on Faluknama Express. The victim was reportedly a resident of Bihar.

Similar incident in Bihar

He got off the train after it stopped at Soro station. Later, his relatives found that he had met with an accident while he was trying to board the Coromandel Express, which was on its way from Balasore to Bhubaneswar. Sahani’s relatives identified his body, after which the RPF was informed. Soon after the accident, the RPF personnel reached the spot, and seized the body, after which the probe was initiated.
