Only 2 days left for nomination, 41 seats stuck in MVA and 73 seats in Mahayuti, candidates not fielded yet

Maharashtra Elections: Maharashtra assembly elections are just around the corner. Voting will be held in the state on November 20. Political parties are taking every step to ensure victory in the elections. This is the reason why there seems to be conflict among them regarding seat sharing. According to media reports, there is a dilemma on 41 seats in Mahavikas Aghadi and 73 seats in ruling Mahayuti and candidates have not been fielded yet. At the same time, only two days are left for nomination. Why this dilemma?

Candidates can file nomination for Maharashtra Assembly elections till 29th October. The approaching last date has increased the heartbeats of MVA and Mahayuti. That is why meetings after meetings are being held to resolve the intricacies of seat sharing. Recently, MVA had a meeting to resolve the issue of seat distribution. At the same time, leaders of Mahayuti have also held a similar meeting in Delhi, in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present.

Who has fielded candidates on how many seats so far?

There are 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) which mainly includes Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction). Shiv Sena (UBT) has fielded candidates on 84 seats, Congress on 87 and NCP (SP) on 76 seats. Thus, there are still 41 seats left on which candidates have not been fielded.

If we talk about Mahayuti, then this alliance includes BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and NCP (AP). There is a tussle on 73 seats in Mahayuti. BJP has announced candidates on 121 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) on 45 seats, NCP (AP) on 49 seats. In this way, there are a total of 215 seats, but there are still 73 seats left for which candidates have not been announced yet.

Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held on November 20, while counting of votes for all 288 seats will take place on November 23. In the 2019 assembly elections, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena won 56 seats and Congress won 44 seats. In 2014, BJP had won 122 seats, Shiv Sena had won 63 seats and Congress had won 42 seats.
