Improving management of ponds
The main objective of this initiative is to map water bodies, collect accurate production data and improve management of ponds to increase fish production. The minister said that the government, in collaboration with a technology firm ‘Marvel’, has started collecting data related to ponds across the state using AI tools.

Detailed data of reservoirs
Minister Rane said that many ponds in the state, especially in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions, have been given to various institutions for the last 30-40 years, but correct information about how much fish is actually being produced in these ponds is not available. Through AI based mapping, detailed data on these reservoirs will be prepared and their production capacity will be assessed. Rane said that when accurate data of ponds and production is available, the government will contact the concerned institutions and pond operators and provide them necessary assistance to increase fish production.
