Sunil Gavaskar Cricket Foundation Trust had returned the land

The government said that the plot is in a bad condition as slum dwellers are using it for improper work. A proposal to hand over the plot on lease to Rahane was passed by MHADA (Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority), which was approved by the Council of Ministers.
