Maharashtra government strict on air pollution, closed four concrete plants

The government is taking strict steps to deal with the increasing problem of air pollution in Maharashtra. Under this, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has closed four ready mix concrete plants in Mumbai. Also, action has been taken against 37 units and Rs 1.87 crore has been collected as fine.

MPCB ​​flying squad is investigating
MPCB ​​member secretary M Devendra Singh said that special flying squads will check at various places in the city and see whether the prescribed conditions are being followed or not. Also, strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules. On Sunday, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of MPCB Chairman Siddhesh Kadam, in which four special investigation teams have been formed for Mumbai and two for Navi Mumbai. These teams will visit the ready mix concrete plants and inspect them.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had also recently suspended the ongoing work related to the bullet train at Bandra-Kurla Complex due to non-compliance of anti-air pollution norms. According to the MPCB, investigations so far have resulted in a fine of Rs 1.87 crore being recovered from 37 RMC plants, and four establishments have been ordered to shut down operations due to air pollution-related violations.
