Maharashtra tops the country in foreign direct investment for three consecutive years
Mumbai: A large amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) is coming to Maharashtra from the agreements reached at the World Economic Forum in Davos, estimated to be over Rs 31 lakh crore by 2026. investmentMinister Dr. informed that a memorandum of understanding has been made. He also mentioned that Maharashtra has topped the country in attracting foreign direct investment for three consecutive years.
Minister Dr. Samant said that the agreements made in the Davos tour will lead to industrialization and massive employment generation in the state. The contracts awarded this year are not limited to MIDC alone but major investment contracts have also been signed through Department of Industries, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
He informed that contracts worth Rs 15 lakh 15 thousand crores were signed through the Industries Department, Rs 15 lakh 10 thousand crores through MMRDA and Rs 1 lakh crore through MSRDC. The minister also said that while the rate of contract implementation in other states is 35 to 40 percent, in Maharashtra this rate has reached 75 to 80 percent from 2022. Uday Samant said.

Talking about the infrastructure facilities in Mumbai, Minister Samant said that the fixed deposits of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are safe and the funds are being used properly for development works. 1,048 roads in the city have been completed and their total length is 278.83 km. is About 54 percent of the first phase and 56 percent of the second phase have been completed. While giving information about the Mithi River project, he said that an investigation is underway as some irregularities were found earlier in this work. In the investigation, the embezzlement of about 65 crore rupees has been revealed and action has been taken against the concerned. For transparency, it has been decided to cancel the tender of Rs 380 crore and conduct a fresh tender.
Minister informed that the state government is also preparing to bring a separate policy for the rehabilitation of slums on MIDC land. Uday Samant said. He clarified that there is a plan to bring SRA policy for slums in MIDC area on the lines of Industrial policy and Gems and Jewelery policy and a decision will be taken in the next two months. This policy will try to rehabilitate families living on MIDC land for years and provide them with houses, he said.

The Minister also said that the Industries Department is making continuous efforts to create new MIDC areas, attract investment and increase employment generation to bring about balanced industrial development in the state. Samant said on this occasion.
