Stating that Maharashtra is emerging as an economically strong state in the country, the Chief Minister believes that Maharashtra will become the first trillion dollar economy in the country in the next few years. Chief Minister Fadnavis was speaking while replying to the general debate on the budget for the year 2026-27 in the Legislative Assembly. About 84 members participated in the discussion on the budget. While replying to the general discussion on the budget, Chief Minister Fadnavis gave detailed information on the state’s financial condition, debt ratio, irrigation, electricity, industry, infrastructure, Jaljeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana etc. Chief Minister Fadnavis at the beginning of his speech greeted Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on his martyrdom day. He also mentioned that the day the budget was presented was Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

The economy of Maharashtra is growing rapidly

Chief Minister Fadnavis said that the Gross State Product (GSDP) of the state in 2013-14 was around Rs.16 lakh crore. It has increased to Rs 51 lakh crore in the last ten years. The growth rate of the state at constant prices is 7.9 per cent and at current prices is 10.4 per cent. Per capita income has increased from Rs 3,17,800 to Rs 3,47,903. Although Maharashtra accounts for 9.5 percent of the country’s population, the state’s share of the country’s GDP is 14.3 percent. He said Maharashtra tops the country in terms of foreign investment, non-oil exports, startups, unicorns, bank deposits, bank loan disbursement and GST collection. He also mentioned that according to the ‘Forest of India’ report, the state ranks first in tree cover.
