Maharashtra News: Big blow to Maoists in Gadchiroli, two Naxalites with a reward of Rs 8 lakh surrendered.
Gadchiroli. Maharashtra Police said on Saturday that two Naxalites carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh have surrendered before the security forces in Gadchiroli District. Many cases including murder, robbery, kidnapping are registered against these surrendered Naxalites.

According to the information released by the police, Gadchiroli resident Ramasu Poyam alias Narsingh (55) and Ramesh Kunjam alias Govind (25), resident of Narayanpur in neighboring Chhattisgarh, lodged a complaint with Gadchiroli Police and Central Reserve Police Force on Friday. Surrendered before. Police said Poyam, who carries a reward of Rs 6 lakh, was recruited as a member of Tipagarh LOS in 1992 and was working as an area committee member (ACM) in Kutul and Nelnar LOS since 2010.
Police said that Poyam has 12 cases registered against him, which include six encounters, five murders and one crime of robbery. Kunjam, which had a reward of Rs 2 lakh. Joined the organization as a member in 2019. She was admitted as a member of Chetna Natya Manch (CNM) in 2020 and in 2021 she became a member of Kutul LOS.
Both of them have surrendered due to the aggressive action of Gadchiroli Police against Maoist activities. His family members also convinced him to lay down his arms after the arrest of his comrades. These people will get Rs 4.5-4.5 lakh for the rehabilitation announced by the Central and Maharashtra governments.
Gadchiroli Police said the surrender-cum-rehabilitation policy of the state government is attracting a large number of members of the banned CPI (Naxalites) and so far 680 active Maoists have surrendered. So far this year, 20 hardcore Maoists have surrendered. Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Niloptal has assured that necessary assistance will be provided to those willing to surrender and join the mainstream of the society.
