Under this policy, dealers will have to ensure the availability of parking space near the customer before purchasing the car. Speaking to the media about this, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “The government is taking such decisions to reduce traffic in Mumbai.”
What is the new parking policy of the government?
“Many public parking facilities have been made available in Mumbai, which can now be booked through an app,” the Chief Minister said. The main objective of this policy is to ensure that the customer has access to a parking space before purchasing the car. For this, the government has provided public parking facilities, which can be purchased or rented.
What is the plan regarding private parking?
Fadnavis said that this policy can be implemented soon. However, he did not share detailed information related to parking in private buildings or public parking. The aim of the government is to eliminate the problem of vehicles parked on the roadside.
Number of vehicles and traffic pressure in Mumbai
According to the data, by August 2024, the number of vehicles in Mumbai will exceed 48 lakh, which includes 14 lakh private cars and 29 lakh two-wheelers.
