Mahayuti’s big bet before BMC elections, manifesto released with focus on roads, water, parking and security
digital desk- Just four days before the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, Mahayuti has released its much-awaited manifesto. The manifesto was released in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Republican Party of India (Athawale) chief Ramdas Athawale. Through this manifesto, Mahayuti has made many big promises related to Mumbai’s infrastructure, water supply, traffic, environment and local culture. The biggest emphasis in the manifesto has been given on improving the roads and traffic system of Mumbai. Mahayuti has promised that asphalt roads will be built where there is less traffic, while cement concrete (CC) roads will be developed in areas with high traffic. To avoid repeated digging of roads in future, utility ducts will be built under the roads. Along with this, it has been said to implement a special action plan for the acquisition of Development Plan (DP) road. Asphalting of private layout roads and their regular maintenance has also been assured.
Will get relief from problems caused by digging, 15 utility tunnels will be developed
To reduce the problems caused by excavation in Mumbai, excavation work will be coordinated by dividing the city into 15 service areas. Besides, utility tunnels will be developed in 15 service areas. To deal with the parking problem, it has been announced to implement community parking, smart and motorized parking system. Apart from this, it has also been promised to increase the parking capacity of the city by creating underground and multi-level parking. To ease traffic, digital information boards will be installed on roads, which will provide drivers with real-time traffic updates, blockages and construction work. Keeping in mind the pedestrians and disabled citizens, all footpaths will be developed in standard concrete, so that the ‘Right to Walk’ of the citizens can be ensured.
It will be the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation to take care of the open spaces.
In the manifesto, it has been said that the responsibility of taking care of the open spaces of Mumbai will be completely handed over to the Municipal Corporation. A special support policy will be made for maintenance, in which local civic organizations and Advanced Local Managements (ALMs) will be given the role of caretakers. Regarding the water problem, Mahayuti has promised to complete major water projects like Gargai, Pinjal and Damanganga in the next five years. There is a plan to increase the existing 3,800 MLD water supply capacity to 4,900 MLD. For this, the entire water system will be modernized. It has also been announced to spend Rs 17 thousand crore for environmental protection.
Provision was also made to deport illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis.
The manifesto also gives a clear message of strictness against illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi citizens. Mahayuti has said that illegal infiltrators will not be allowed to live in Mumbai under any circumstances. Along with this, to strengthen Marathi language and culture, separate Marathi departments, Marathi art centers and workshops will be established in the municipality. Special programs and financial provisions will also be made for Marathi youth on the occasion of the birth centenary of Balasaheb Thackeray.
